FTMO’s $10,000 1-Step challenge requires a 10% profit target with a 3% daily loss limit and a 10% maximum loss limit. Traders keep 90% of profits. Leverage is 1:100 for FX, 1:30 for Metals and Energy, 1:50 for Indices, and 1:3 for Crypto. Commissions are $5 per FX lot, 0.0014% per volume on Metals, 0.001% on Energy, 0.065% on Crypto, and 0.004% on Stocks; Indices have no commission. News trading is allowed during evaluation and restricted around high-impact events in the funded phase for Non-Swing accounts; weekend holding is prohibited for funded Non-Swing accounts. Copy trading and third-party trading are prohibited; trading bots are not allowed. There is no consistency rule, and a minimum of 4 trading days is required. Payouts occur every 14 days with a $20 minimum withdrawal via bank wire and $50 via crypto, using bank transfer, crypto, or Skrill. The scaling plan increases profit split to 90% and allows growth up to $2,000,000 after meeting specific profit and payout criteria.

FTMO is a modern prop trading firm founded in Prague in 2015 by classmates Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček, who set out to tackle trader undercapitalization. In 2017 they took the idea global with the FTMO Challenge, an evaluation of discipline and skill on simulated accounts, and FTMO describes itself as a pioneer of modern prop trading. FTMO says its companies do not act as a broker and do not accept deposits: all accounts it provides are demo accounts with fictitious funds, and the firm specializes in this simulated environment. It is the core of the FTMO Group, which also includes Quantlane, a traditional proprietary trading firm acquired in 2023, and the regulated broker OANDA, acquired in 2025. By its own figures, more than 4.5 million traders in over 140 countries have tried FTMO, and it has paid more than $650 million in rewards. FTMO has won the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe award five times and was named Best Prop-Trading Firm at the Finance Magnates London Summit in 2023 and 2024, while its founders received the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the Czech Republic in 2022, in the technology category. FTMO states that its goal is to help traders become better and more consistent. It offers the free FTMO Academy, a free trial, the FTMO Toolkit of account analytics tools and one-to-one sessions with performance coaches for traders with an active FTMO Account, with customer support in 21 languages.
