ECFX XAU Dual Crown
Professional Multi-Engine Gold Trading Automation for cTrader
ECFX XAU Dual Crown is a multi-engine automated trading system developed specifically for Gold (XAUUSD), with its primary trading logic designed around the 5-minute timeframe.
The concept behind Dual Crown is simple: instead of relying on one entry method or one type of market condition, the cBot combines multiple independently managed trading engines inside a single coordinated system.
At the heart of the cBot are its two main strategy families:
Crown I – Lock30x
Crown II – Aurum Velocity
These engines analyse Gold from different perspectives and manage their own trades independently, while a shared protection layer coordinates exposure, drawdown control, position sizing and portfolio safety.
The current cTrader build also incorporates a supporting Trend Complement component, designed to provide additional trend participation alongside the two primary crowns.
HOW ECFX XAU DUAL CROWN WORKS
Dual Crown is designed to identify selected momentum, breakout and expansion conditions rather than continuously entering the market.
The strategy is primarily built around completed candles. This means the cBot waits for confirmed price information before making many of its trading decisions instead of reacting to every individual tick.
CROWN I – LOCK30X
Lock30x is the first major engine inside Dual Crown.
It analyses completed M5 candles and measures characteristics such as:
- Candle range
- Direction
- Entry distance
- Momentum
- Market timing
- Existing exposure
- Trading session
- Recent market conditions
When a candle satisfies the configured requirements, Lock30x can calculate a pending-order level beyond the completed candle.
Under the standard sell-focused configuration, a qualifying bearish candle may create a Sell Stop below the market.
This approach is designed to require price to continue moving in the anticipated direction before the trade is actually triggered.
Pending orders use configurable:
- Entry offsets
- Stop losses
- Expiration times
- Decision cooldowns
- Position sizing
- Margin protection
This helps prevent the system from repeatedly placing identical setups during the same market movement.
LOCK30X PROFIT BOOST
Dual Crown also contains a conditional Profit Boost engine.
Unlike the normal Lock30x strategy, Profit Boost does not need to operate continuously.
It can remain inactive until the account reaches a configured level of daily profit.
Once that condition has been satisfied, the Boost system can search for stronger momentum setups.
Its filters can examine factors including:
- Candle range compared with recent average range
- Candle body quality
- Directional closing position
- Available daily profit cushion
- Current spread
- Drawdown
- Recent trading performance
This allows the Boost engine to become more selective about when additional exposure is permitted.
Importantly, the Profit Boost system is not a martingale system. Additional trades are still subject to defined sizing, margin and risk restrictions.
H1 EXPANSION LOGIC
Dual Crown can also analyse completed H1 candles while the main cBot continues running on XAUUSD M5.
The H1 Expansion logic is designed to identify larger market movements using factors such as:
- Candle expansion
- ATR volatility
- EMA trend alignment
- Candle body quality
- Trading sessions
- Weekday restrictions
- Maximum holding periods
This gives Crown I another way of participating when Gold enters a stronger higher-timeframe expansion phase.
CROWN II – AURUM VELOCITY
Aurum Velocity forms the second Crown.
Instead of using the same pending-order logic as Lock30x, Aurum contains its own independently managed signal engines.
Velocity Engine
The Velocity engine searches for completed candles showing sufficient directional strength.
It can evaluate:
- Total candle range
- Real candle body size
- Direction
- Minimum movement thresholds
- Trading session
- Existing positions
When the required conditions are satisfied, the engine can execute a market position.
Channel Engine
The Channel engine looks for price breaking beyond a recent trading range.
It compares the completed candle against the highs and lows of a configurable number of previous candles.
A sufficiently strong break beyond the previous channel boundary can qualify as a new trading opportunity.
This gives Dual Crown a second style of breakout detection that is different from Lock30x.
Pullback Engine
Aurum also contains an optional Pullback model.
The Pullback engine uses concepts including:
- ATR
- Fast EMA
- Slow EMA
- Candle wick behaviour
- Trend direction
- Directional candle confirmation
It is designed for situations where price temporarily returns toward a moving-average area before continuing with the broader move.
The Pullback engine can be enabled or disabled independently.
INDEPENDENT ENGINE MANAGEMENT
One of the important features of Dual Crown is that its strategies are not simply copies of one another.
The individual components maintain their own trade ownership and are able to manage positions independently.
This allows the cBot to distinguish between trades generated by:
- Lock30x Core
- Profit Boost
- H1 Expansion
- Aurum Velocity
- Aurum Channel
- Aurum Pullback
- Supporting Trend Complement logic
The shared Dual Crown framework can then coordinate the complete portfolio.
ADAPTIVE POSITION SIZING
Dual Crown includes configurable position-sizing logic rather than relying on one fixed volume for every account.
Depending on the selected settings, volume can respond to factors such as:
- Account equity
- Reference capital
- Account growth
- Drawdown
- Recovery mode
- Maximum allowed volume
- Available margin
- Broker volume restrictions
The objective is to allow the cBot to adapt its requested volume while still respecting the configured safety limits.
The supplied Store configuration already contains the intended baseline profile, allowing users to begin by testing the default configuration without first having to reproduce the development settings manually.
Users should always test the supplied configuration against their own broker before changing position-sizing parameters.
DRAWDOWN BRAKES
Dual Crown contains additional risk controls designed to reduce exposure during periods of drawdown.
Rather than automatically increasing volume after losses, the system can do the opposite.
When selected drawdown thresholds are reached, future position sizes can be reduced.
A deeper drawdown can activate a stronger reduction.
This allows the system to respond defensively when market conditions become less favourable.
RECOVERY MODE
Recovery Mode provides another layer of exposure control.
When account drawdown enters the configured recovery region, the cBot can reduce the size of new positions.
If the account subsequently recovers sufficiently, normal sizing can resume.
Recovery Mode is therefore designed around reducing risk during difficult periods, not increasing trade size in an attempt to recover losses.
DAILY LOSS PROTECTION
Dual Crown contains daily protection logic designed to stop additional trading when configured daily loss conditions are reached.
Depending on the selected settings, the system can:
- Prevent additional entries
- Close managed positions
- Cancel managed pending orders
- Remain locked until the next configured trading-day reset
This can provide an additional layer of protection beyond the stop loss attached to an individual trade.
If Dual Crown is used on an account containing other cBots or manually opened trades, users should carefully review any account-wide protection settings before operation.
HIGH-WATER EQUITY PROTECTION
The system also contains high-water equity protection.
This concept tracks account progress and can monitor drawdown from a previously achieved equity peak after the protection system has been armed.
If the configured drawdown from that peak is reached, the system can activate its protection state and stop further Dual Crown trading.
This feature is intended to help protect accumulated account growth rather than simply measuring drawdown from the original starting balance.
SPREAD AND MARGIN PROTECTION
Gold trading conditions can change significantly throughout the day.
Spreads may expand during:
- Market rollover
- Low-liquidity periods
- Major market events
- Broker session changes
- Extremely volatile movements
Dual Crown therefore includes controls that can prevent or reduce new exposure when market or account conditions do not meet the configured requirements.
Requested trading volume may also be reduced when insufficient margin is available rather than blindly submitting an oversized position.
NO MARTINGALE OR CONVENTIONAL GRID SYSTEM
ECFX XAU Dual Crown is not designed around conventional martingale lot multiplication.
It also does not depend on continuously building a large grid of positions.
The strategy instead uses independently defined signal conditions, controlled entries, protective stops, trailing management and portfolio-level safeguards.

- Profit factor
- Number of trades
- Winning and losing trades
- Consecutive losses
- Average trade duration
- Commission and trading costs
- Equity-curve stability
- Performance during the most recent market period
REFERENCE BACKTEST ENVIRONMENT
For users wanting a consistent baseline comparison, a useful reference environment is:
Symbol: XAUUSD
Timeframe: M5
Starting Balance: $50,000
Leverage: 1:30
Historical Period: January 2020 onward
Data: High-quality tick data where available
This is intended only as a repeatable testing environment.
It is not a guarantee that another broker will reproduce identical trades or results.
IMPORTANT: RUN A RECENT-PERIOD TEST
A long historical backtest alone should not be considered sufficient validation.
After completing a longer test, create another backtest using the original starting balance but covering only a recent period.
This is important because an account that has grown significantly during a multi-year backtest may be trading at a completely different volume by the end of the test.
A fresh-account recent-period test provides a clearer picture of how the cBot would behave if started under current market conditions.
TESTING THE CROWNS INDIVIDUALLY
Advanced users can also evaluate the strategy components separately.
A useful testing sequence is:
Test 1 – Complete Dual Crown
Run the supplied configuration with the complete system enabled.
Test 2 – Crown I
Test Lock30x independently.
Test 3 – Crown II
Test Aurum independently.
Test 4 – Recent Market Period
Test the complete configuration from a fresh starting balance using recent data.
Test 5 – Different Broker Feed
Where possible, compare results using the Gold data from another broker.
This can provide a much better understanding of where performance is being generated than simply looking at one final backtest result.
OPTIMIZATION
Dual Crown provides a large number of configurable controls, but users should avoid optimizing every parameter simultaneously.
A better approach is to change small groups of related parameters while leaving the remaining system unchanged.
For example:
- Entry threshold and offset
- Trading session
- Momentum requirements
- Trailing distance
- Drawdown protection
- Position sizing
After finding a promising configuration, test it again on historical data that was not used during optimization.
Selecting the single highest-profit optimization result can easily result in historical overfitting.
Look instead for configurations that remain reasonably stable across neighbouring settings, different periods and realistic trading conditions.
BROKER DIFFERENCES
No two Gold feeds are exactly identical.
Differences may include:
- Bid/ask pricing
- Spread
- Commission
- Swap
- Symbol digits
- Tick size
- Contract size
- Stop distance
- Available leverage
- Liquidity
- Server time
- Historical tick data
- Execution
Because Dual Crown responds to completed candles, breakouts and price distances, these differences can cause individual entries and overall backtest results to vary between brokers.
Always test the cBot using the same broker on which you intend to operate it.
DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR GOLD AUTOMATION
ECFX XAU Dual Crown was created around the behaviour of XAUUSD rather than being a generic strategy applied to every available symbol.
Gold is capable of producing extremely fast momentum, large intraday ranges and sudden volatility changes.
Dual Crown attempts to approach this environment through several complementary systems rather than relying on one signal:
Lock30x identifies structured pending-order opportunities.
Profit Boost searches for selected high-quality momentum conditions after its activation requirements are satisfied.
H1 Expansion watches for larger higher-timeframe movement.
Aurum Velocity identifies directional acceleration.
Aurum Channel searches for confirmed range breaks.
Aurum Pullback provides an optional trend-continuation model.
Trend Complement provides an additional supporting trend component.
These components operate inside the shared Dual Crown portfolio-management framework.
BEFORE USING THE cBOT
Before considering live operation:
- Backtest XAUUSD using your own broker's data.
- Confirm your account size and leverage.
- Check expected position volume.
- Review maximum historical drawdown.
- Check spread and commission.
- Confirm your Gold symbol.
- Run a fresh recent-period backtest.
- Observe the cBot on demo.
- Check cTrader logs for unresolved errors.
- Make sure the selected risk is appropriate for your account.
Changing volume, margin limits, entry thresholds, session times, direction controls or protection parameters can significantly change both risk and performance.
RISK NOTICE
ECFX XAU Dual Crown is an automated trading tool and does not guarantee profit.
XAUUSD is a leveraged and highly volatile market. Gold can move rapidly, spreads can expand, markets can gap and execution can experience slippage.
Historical results and backtests are simulations and do not predict future results.
Performance can vary significantly because of broker pricing, tick data, spread, commission, leverage, swap, latency, execution and symbol specifications.
Always backtest the cBot using your intended broker, observe it on a demo account and select position sizing appropriate for your own circumstances before considering live trading.
