JPY Sentinel is an automated breakout trading bot for cTrader, optimized for the USD/JPY currency pair but compatible with any liquid instrument. It operates by identifying the Asian session price range (08:00–11:00 local time), then placing pending Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders just outside this range to capture directional breakouts. Only one trade is taken per day, with the opposite pending order canceled once one is triggered.

The bot features comprehensive risk and capital management tools, including three configurable Stop Loss modes (Percent, RangeOpposite dynamic, FixedCurrency), a Max Risk Cap to limit losses from slippage or gaps, and an Early Exit function to close losing trades after a set time. Position sizing is automatically calculated based on user-defined risk per trade.

Three backtested presets are provided—Prop Firm Safe, Personal Account, and Aggressive—offering different risk/reward profiles with historical net profits ranging from +16.4% to +32.1% and maximum drawdowns from 9.1% to 13.0%. Backtests cover 2020–2026, including high-impact news events, with realistic spreads and commissions.

The bot suits beginners using presets, prop firm challengers targeting low drawdowns, and experienced traders who can optimize parameters via cTrader’s Genetic Algorithm optimizer. It supports prop firm challenges such as FTMO and The5ers with some restrictions around high-impact news periods.
