The Nikkei 225 is a price-weighted index of large companies listed in Tokyo, and JP225 is a common name for the CFD that tracks it. On cTrader it trades like other index symbols where a broker offers it, with hours and conditions set by that broker.
Many large Japanese firms sell abroad, so a weaker yen tends to support the index and a stronger yen can weigh on it. Bank of Japan decisions and overnight moves on Wall Street add further swings, often before Tokyo opens.
Read whether the description names JP225 or a similar symbol, which hours it was tested on and how stops handle the Tokyo open and lunch break. Availability of Nikkei-focused products in cTrader Store changes over time, and some general index cBots let you choose the symbol yourself.
Momentum rules enter after a move has begun, so a sudden reversal after a Bank of Japan surprise or a sharp yen swing can bring a string of losses. The Momentum Oscillator itself compares current and past prices, so it lags turning points.
First confirm that your broker offers the index and under which name, such as JP225 or JPN225. Then backtest the cBot in the Windows or Mac app and give it a demo run where your broker allows, setting a price alert on key levels if you want to watch.
