Battlezone Price Rejection Volume Profile
cTrader Rejection Profile Indicator — Wick Rejection Density, Next-Bar Reversal Detection & Tiered Heat Zones with POC Levels
Battlezone Price Rejection Volume Profile is a cTrader indicator that builds a profile of price rejection instead of raw volume. It scans historical bars for wick rejections and next-bar reversals, clusters them into price zones, and renders a tiered heat map with POC levels — all anchored to a fully draggable profile line.
Instead of showing where the most volume traded, it shows where price has repeatedly fought and failed — a structural layer that complements volume profile, market profile, and traditional support/resistance analysis.
cTrader Native • No Repainting on Closed Bars • Draggable Anchor & Lookback Boundary • Five-Tier Heat Map
What the Indicator Does
Battlezone Price Rejection Volume Profile answers one core question:
Where has price repeatedly rejected — and how intense is that rejection relative to other zones?
The indicator scans a configurable lookback window for two rejection events:
- Wick rejections — candles where the upper or lower wick exceeds a configurable percentage of the candle's range, indicating price was pushed away from a level
- Next-bar reversals — a directional candle immediately followed by an opposite-direction candle, with a minimum body size to qualify
Each event is clustered into a price zone. Zone intensity is calculated, ranked, and rendered as a tiered histogram. The strongest zones are marked with POC (Point of Control) levels extending to the right of the chart.
Core Components
Rejection Scanning Engine
Scans the last N bars (configurable lookback, default 200). Detects wick rejections and next-bar reversals independently — each can be toggled.
Wick Rejection Detection
A bar qualifies as a wick rejection when its upper or lower wick exceeds the configured minimum percentage of range (default: 35%). Each qualifying wick is assigned to the price zone containing the wick tip.
Next-Bar Reversal Detection
A bar qualifies when the following bar closes in the opposite direction with a body size at or above the minimum body percentage (default: 15%). The anchor price for the reversal can be set to the close, the extreme of the turning bar, or the extreme of the two-bar structure (default and recommended).
Price Zone Clustering
The scanned price range is divided into a configurable number of zones (default: 48, maximum: 60). Each rejection event is assigned to its corresponding zone.
Five-Tier Heat Map
Zones are classified into five intensity tiers based on their rejection count relative to the peak:
- Tier 1 — 0–20% (coldest) — default: SteelBlue
- Tier 2 — 20–40% — default: Teal
- Tier 3 — 40–60% — default: Goldenrod
- Tier 4 — 60–80% — default: Orange
- Tier 5 — 80–100% (hottest) — default: OrangeRed
Each tier has its own configurable color.
POC Levels
The Top N zones are marked with horizontal POC lines extending to the right. The hottest zone is labeled "POC", the rest "P2", "P3", and so on. Labels optionally include the zone's percentage intensity.
Display Modes
Three display modes:
- Profile — histogram bars extending left from the anchor
- Bands — full-width heat bands across the entire range
- Both — profile with a faint background band layer
Draggable Anchor Line
The profile anchor is fully draggable. Move it to reposition the entire histogram. Default position is at the price axis or just past the last candle — configurable.
Draggable Lookback Boundary
A second draggable line (teal by default) marks the left edge of the lookback window. Drag it to include more or fewer bars.
Percentage Basis
Three options:
- Peak — percentage of the hottest zone (default: hottest = 100%)
- Bars — percentage of lookback bars (absolute pressure)
- Events — distribution share across all hits
Optional Summary Panel
When enabled, displays the Top 3 zones with their price ranges, percentages, and hit counts (wick vs reversal breakdown).
How It Works
- The last N bars are scanned (configurable lookback, default 200).
- Each bar is evaluated for:
- Wick rejection: upper or lower wick ≥ minimum wick % of range
- Next-bar reversal: directional body followed by an opposite-direction body meeting the minimum body %
- Qualifying events are assigned to price zones. The scanned price range is divided evenly into N zones.
- Zone intensity is calculated as the count of rejection events in each zone, normalized according to the selected percentage basis.
- Zones are ranked by intensity. The Top N zones are marked as POC levels.
- Each zone is rendered as a horizontal histogram bar, sized proportionally to its intensity, colored by its tier, with an optional percentage label.
- POC lines extend from the left edge of the lookback window to the right of the anchor.
What You See on the Chart
- Horizontal histogram extending left from the draggable anchor line
- Zone bars sized proportionally to rejection intensity
- Five color-coded intensity tiers (SteelBlue → Teal → Goldenrod → Orange → OrangeRed)
- POC lines extending to the right of the chart, with labels
- Optional percentage labels on each zone
- Draggable amber anchor line (labelled "ANCHOR – DRAG")
- Draggable teal lookback boundary line (labelled "LOOKBACK – DRAG")
- Optional faint range envelope with HI/LO tags
- Optional summary panel showing Top 3 zones
Historical & Non-Repainting Behavior
All rejection scanning and zone intensity calculations are based on closed bars. Historical zone colors, intensities, and POC levels do not change once the bars they depend on have closed.
The currently forming bar is not counted toward rejection intensity. Its wick may eventually qualify as a rejection, but only after it closes. As a result, the profile is stable until the next bar closes, at which point the profile updates once with the newly confirmed rejection data.

Practical Market Scenarios
Finding the Strongest Rejection Level
A cluster of Tier 5 (OrangeRed) zones near a previous swing high reveals where price has repeatedly been rejected. This level becomes the top POC line — the strongest rejection level in the scanned window.
Distinguishing Real Levels from Weak Ones
Tier 1 and Tier 2 zones (SteelBlue, Teal) show up in areas price has passed through freely. These are lower-conviction levels and can be deprioritized in trade planning.
Range-Specific Analysis with the Draggable Anchor
Drag the amber anchor to a recent swing high–low range. The profile rebuilds for that range, revealing the rejection structure specific to that move — not the whole lookback.
Adjusting Lookback with the Teal Line
Drag the teal lookback boundary further left to include more history, or further right to focus on recent price action. The profile rebuilds immediately.
Top N Zones for Clean Charts
Enable "Draw ONLY the Top N zones" and set N to 3 or 5. Only the strongest rejection levels are drawn — ideal for traders who want clean charts without losing key structural information.
Confluence with Volume Profile
Overlay the rejection profile alongside a traditional volume profile. Zones where both align are the highest-conviction levels.
Compatibility
- Platform: cTrader (cAlgo API)
- Asset classes: Forex, metals including XAUUSD, indices including US30, NAS100, and GER40, commodities, and crypto instruments
- Timeframes: All timeframes (M1 through Monthly)
- Volume data: Not required — rejection detection uses price action only
- Dependencies: None. Native cAlgo, no external libraries
Technical Notes
The indicator is written entirely in cAlgo (C#). Rejection detection uses price action only — no volume data is required, making the indicator equally reliable on instruments with limited volume history (crypto, some CFDs, exotic pairs).
Zones are drawn as chart rectangle objects anchored to the draggable anchor line, with bar length proportional to normalized rejection intensity. Zone coloring follows the configured five-tier heat map.
Both the profile anchor line and the lookback boundary line are true cTrader chart objects — meaning you drag them directly on the chart, and the profile rebuilds in response. Scroll and zoom events keep the anchor correctly positioned at the price axis when in "Follow Chart" mode.
POC lines extend from the left edge of the lookback window to the right of the anchor. The top zone is labeled "POC" (solid line); secondary zones are labeled "P2", "P3", etc. (dotted lines).
The optional range envelope draws a faint rectangle around the scanned price range with HI/LO price tags.
