FAQ
Arbitrage bots look for small price gaps between related instruments, such as three currency pairs whose cross rates briefly disagree, and trade to capture the difference. Latency-style bots try to act on price changes before slower quotes catch up.
It compares a cross rate, such as EURGBP, with the rate implied by EURUSD and GBPUSD, and trades all three legs when they disagree by more than costs. In practice the gaps are tiny and brief, so spreads, commissions and execution delay decide whether anything is left.
That depends on each broker's terms, and some restrict strategies that exploit delayed prices, so read your account agreement before starting one. Execution quality, spreads and conditions also differ between brokers, so results can vary widely from one account to another.
The usual causes are costs that exceed the gap, slippage while legs fill one after another, and quotes that move before an order arrives. If one leg fills and another does not, the bot holds an open directional position, so losses are possible despite the hedged design.
Legs on different symbols work on hedging and netting accounts alike, but opposite positions on one symbol need a hedging account. Netting keeps a single net position per symbol, so read the bot's description and try it on a demo account, where offered, before live use.
