FAQ
An opening range breakout cBot marks the high and low of a session's first period, then trades when price breaks beyond either side. Stops often sit at the far side of that box, and some bots close all trades by a set time of day.
The box comes from bars between a start and end time, so a bot reading broker server time instead of exchange time marks the wrong bars. Daylight saving changes can shift that window, so recheck the inputs whenever clocks move.
Compare the opening window length, any buffer beyond the high or low, how stop and target relate to box size, and the cut-off for new entries. Instruments such as NAS100 and gold behave differently at their opens, so per-symbol inputs help.
Price can poke beyond the box and snap back, triggering an entry that then hits its stop, and on choppy days this can repeat on both sides. Gaps at the open and wide first-period swings also produce large stops, so losses can stack up quickly.
cTrader's knowledge base includes a sample breakout cBot whose code shows how entries on a range break work, which helps when reading a product's parameters. Paid ORB bots can then be backtested in cTrader Windows or Mac and run on a demo account to check timing on your broker's server clock.
