FAQ
News trading bots try to trade the price burst around scheduled releases, whereas news filters keep other bots out of the market during those windows. Both rely on an event calendar, and both work only as well as their timing settings.
Shortly before the release it places a buy stop above price and a sell stop below, so a sharp move either way triggers one side. The unused order is then usually cancelled, and the knowledge-base breakout sample shows how such range-break entries can be coded.
A whipsaw can trigger the first order, reverse through its stop and then trigger the second before price settles. Spreads also widen sharply around releases and stops may fill well past their level, so live results can be far worse than a calm backtest suggests.
Check how far the pending orders sit from price, how long they stay active, the maximum spread or slippage the bot accepts and the volume per trade. Without a spread limit, an order can fill at the widest quote of the event.
Only those that carry their calendar inside the product, since cloud instances make no HTTP requests and cannot download event data. Tools that fetch schedules online need a local instance in cTrader Windows or Mac, and indicator versions run in those desktop apps only.
