The Heikin Ashi Doji EMA Bot is a fully automated cTrader trading robot based on a combination of Heikin Ashi candles, Doji formations, EMA trend filtering, and confirmation candles.
The bot is designed to identify predefined market conditions and execute trades automatically according to the parameters selected by the user. It includes a range of configurable trade-management, position-sizing, and trading-schedule options.
🔑 Features
✅ Heikin Ashi Doji Strategy
The bot identifies qualifying Heikin Ashi Doji candles and waits for two subsequent confirmation candles before entering a trade.
✅ EMA Trend Filter
Use a configurable Exponential Moving Average to filter trade direction.
The signal timeframe and EMA timeframe can be configured independently.
✅ Long & Short Controls
Enable or disable long and short trading independently.
✅ Optional Reverse Trading
An optional setting allows generated trade signals to be reversed.
✅ Flexible Position Sizing
Choose between:
- Equity percentage-based sizing
- Fixed lot sizing
Equity-based sizing uses the configured risk percentage and calculated stop distance to determine position volume.
✅ Configurable Risk-to-Reward
Set the desired Risk-to-Reward ratio for calculating trade targets.
✅ Optional Hard Stop Loss
Hard Stop Loss protection can be enabled or disabled according to the user's selected configuration.
Important: Disabling the hard stop can substantially increase trading risk.
✅ Break-Even Protection
Optional break-even management with three available methods:
- R Multiple
- Pips
- Net P/L
✅ Profit-Based Trailing Stop
Optional trailing protection based on account-currency profit.
Configure:
- Activation profit per 1.00 lot
- Profit buffer percentage
✅ Position Doubling
An optional position-doubling feature can add positions after an adverse price movement.
Users can configure:
- Trigger distance
- Maximum doubling levels
- Enable/disable control
Position doubling can increase overall market exposure and should be tested carefully before being used in live trading.
✅ Basket Management
Related positions can be managed as a group, including volume-weighted average entry calculations and shared trade targets.
Trade-group information is also retained so positions can be managed after a bot restart.
✅ Spread Filter
Optionally prevent new trades when the current spread exceeds the configured maximum.
✅ Margin Protection
An optional minimum margin-level requirement can be used to prevent additional positions from being opened when account margin conditions do not meet the selected threshold.
✅ Trading Day Controls
Enable or disable trading for individual days of the week.
✅ Daily Trading Sessions
Configure separate start and end times for each day.
✅ Hourly Controls
Optional hourly controls can manage trading around hourly boundaries, including configurable handling of winning and losing positions.
✅ Monthly Filters
Optional filters can restrict new trading around selected month-start and month-end periods.
Available filters include:
- First day of the month
- Last day of the month
- Friday before month-end
- Monday after month-start
✅ Heikin Ashi Smoothing
Optional Heikin Ashi smoothing is available as an additional configurable setting.
⚙️ How It Works
The bot evaluates completed Heikin Ashi candles and checks them against the configured EMA conditions.
A potential long setup requires a qualifying bullish Heikin Ashi Doji, appropriate EMA alignment, and two subsequent bullish confirmation candles.
A potential short setup uses the corresponding bearish conditions.
When the configured conditions are satisfied, the bot performs its trade and risk checks before opening a position.
Once a position is open, the selected protection and management settings can be applied, including Stop Loss, Take Profit, break-even, trailing, and optional position doubling.
📊 Configurable Trading Environment
The bot provides control over several aspects of automated execution, allowing users to configure the strategy according to their own testing requirements.
These include:
- Signal timeframe
- EMA timeframe
- EMA period
- Position sizing
- Maximum open positions
- Long/short direction
- Risk-to-Reward
- Stop Loss
- Break-even
- Trailing
- Position doubling
- Spread limits
- Margin requirements
- Trading days
- Daily trading sessions
- Hourly controls
- Monthly filters
