FAQ
An AUD or NZD cross pair cBot is a program that places orders on pairs such as AUDNZD, AUDJPY or NZDJPY, which leave out the US dollar. Each instance runs on the trader's own account with parameters the trader sets, and one cBot can run separate instances on several crosses at once.
Both economies lean on commodity exports and Asia-Pacific demand, so the two currencies often react to the same news and the cross tends to move less. Range logic builds on that, yet a policy gap between the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand can end a range abruptly.
Check the pairs each bot supports, the spread and swap costs assumed in its tests, and whether its range rules exit once a range breaks. Spreads and swaps are set by each broker, and thinner NZD crosses often cost more to trade than major pairs, so low assumed costs can flatter a test.
Range rules count on price returning to the middle, so a breakout that keeps going can bring a run of losing trades against the move. A surprise rate decision or commodity shock can start such a run, and yen crosses such as AUDJPY can swing hard when risk appetite shifts.
Backtest it on past prices in cTrader's desktop app, then watch a forward run with demo funds, assuming the broker supports demo accounts. Free cBots for these crosses deserve the same scrutiny as paid ones, because past results, simulated or live, cannot show how a strategy will behave next.
