Heikin Ashi candles are averaged bars: each close is the mean of the open, high, low and close, and each open is the midpoint of the prior candle's body. The smoothing turns trends into runs of same-colored candles and hides much of the bar-to-bar noise.
A run of rising candles with no lower shadow is usually read as a strong uptrend, and falling candles with no upper shadow as a strong downtrend. Small bodies with wicks on both sides often signal indecision, which chartists treat as a cue to look closer rather than as a trade signal.
They are calculated values, so a candle's open and close usually differ from real traded prices and gaps get smoothed away. Entries and stops planned from Heikin Ashi levels need checking on a regular candlestick chart, and the averaging adds some lag at turning points.
It can if it needs no web requests, pop-ups or sounds, which cloud instances skip; otherwise run it locally, which needs the Windows or Mac app to stay open. Either way it places orders on your own account under settings you choose, losses are possible, and stopping it leaves its positions open.
Each option swaps speed for clarity, so the choice depends on your timeframe and tolerance for noise. Smoothing cuts false color flips but reacts later, color-change alerts save screen time and a higher-timeframe overlay adds context; such add-ons work on Windows and Mac desktops only, never trade, and can still mislead.
