FAQ
Mean reversion is the idea that price stretched far from an average tends to drift back toward it, and these cBots trade that return. They measure the stretch with tools such as Bollinger Bands, RSI or VWAP and enter against the move with a set stop and target.
It reads the Relative Strength Index and acts when the value crosses an oversold or overbought level, going long on weakness or short on strength. The knowledge-base RSI sample cBot shows this logic in code, with the levels and period as adjustable parameters.
Look for a hard stop on every trade, a trend or volatility filter that pauses entries in strong one-way moves, and a cap on stacked positions. Bots that average down without a limit can recover small dips yet lose heavily in a persistent trend.
It struggles when a market starts trending, because each stretched reading can stretch further and every entry fights the move. News shocks and regime changes do the same, and past backtests cannot show when the next one-way phase will arrive, so losses remain possible.
Run backtests in cTrader Windows or Mac over stretches that contain both quiet ranges and strong trends, then compare the drawdown of each. Some products here offer trials, and a demo instance on current prices then shows whether entries behave as the description says.
