The VA Footprint is not merely an indicator but a complete framework for professionals that can be used to make deep analysis across different market symbols and situations.
Unlike traditional footprint charts, which track aggression at each bid and ask price level, the VA Footprint groups aggression by tick clusters. This structure provides resilience against HFT spoofing (like wash trading or agressive orders mixed in the noise, intended to disguise intention at bid x ask level), as it measures commitment over clusters of 10 ticks or more, making manipulation significantly more costly.
Adjustable Parameters (Relevant Settings)
- Box Duration (minutes) --> Adjust the box timeframe to match your chart timeframe
- Minimum Pips per Level
- Dark Mode
- Show Value Area (Visible on the yellow line at the right side of each box)
- Volume Timeframe --> choose between 10-ticks to 1-minute, 10-ticks is more suitable for absorption setups.
Important Considerations
- MARKET REPLAY with tick precision works, you can use that to backtest your strategy and test the indicator for longer periods. if you broker don´t provide historical tick data just use the ctrader demo trading account.
- Increasing the pips per level adds precision. For EURUSD, a minimum of 0.5 pips is recommended, which remains suitable for short-term to long-term trading.
- At 10‑tick Volume Timeframe, historical data is available only for a limited number of bars and depends on the broker’s data offering.
- On 1-minute Volume Timeframe, full chart history is generally available regardless of broker, but the level size must be increased to maintain precision (for example: 1 pip level, 15M in EURUSD).
- In rare periods where the volativity is extremely low (low change of price) candles that don't move will not be shown, leaving gaps or one price level. This is not a bug. Opportunities lies on high volativity, if there's none, the market is not readable.

A decent setup here should survive 1 percent risk without looking messy. The first month should show both ROI and DD. The next review on it on 30 trades.

For risk management, this feels more useful as a filter than a full system. The journal should cover 76 setups and the trade context.

The stats tell the story. Tracking 1 percent risk first, compare the result with BE after 1R, and only scale if 1.5R partials still looks controlled.

Feels right for a user who wants less noise in the process. The best use is sizing and stop planning, then leaving the final filter manual. The problem appears when the tool makes weak ideas look acceptable.5R partials.
