FinTracker
Indicator
Version 1.0, May 2026
Windows, Mac
This indicator combines the core logic of the Traders Dynamic Index (TDI) with advanced pattern recognition for "Shark Fin" and "Extreme Cross" signals. It tracks market volatility through custom Bollinger-style bands applied to the RSI, identifying high-probability reversal points when the RSI line pierces and then re-enters these volatility zones.
Key Features
- TDI Core Logic: Uses a 10-period RSI with dynamic volatility bands to visualize market sentiment and strength.
- Shark Fin Detection: Identifies rapid "spikes" where the RSI breaks out of the bands and quickly reverses, signaling a potential exhaustion point.
- Extreme Cross Signals: Flags crossovers occurring at overbought or oversold levels (e.g., above 68 or below 32).
- Multi-Layer Filtering: Includes optional filters for band slope and "Market Base Line" (MBL) crosses to reduce noise.
- Real-time Alerts: Integrated visual arrows on the chart, console logging, and optional pop-up notifications for live trading.
To maximize the win rate of the FinTracker indicator, it is highly recommended to view signals through the lens of market structure rather than trading them in isolation. Here are the professional recommendations for effective implementation:
Strategic Recommendations
- HTF (High Time Frame) Confluence: Always align your trades with the dominant trend. If the H4 chart is bullish, prioritize Shark Fin Buy signals on the M15 or H1 charts. Trading against the HTF trend significantly increases the risk of being stopped out.
- MBL (Market Base Line) Filtering: Use the yellow MBL (the center line) as a "momentum gate." A Shark Fin Buy is much stronger if the RSI subsequently crosses above the MBL, confirming that bullish momentum has actually returned.
- Volatility Awareness: Shark Fins are most reliable when the volatility bands are expanded. In a "Squeeze" (narrow bands), the market is often range-bound, leading to false breakouts. Wait for a clear "pierce" of a wide band for the best results.
- Divergence Validation: Look for "Hidden Divergence" for trend continuation or "Regular Divergence" for reversals. If the price makes a lower low but the FinTracker forms a higher Shark Fin Buy, the probability of a reversal is exceptionally high.
- Risk Management: Place your Stop Loss slightly beyond the recent price swing high or low created by the Shark Fin "spike." Aim for a minimum Risk-to-Reward ratio of 1:2, trailing your stop once the RSI crosses the MBL.
