Description
ChartContextPro is a multi-module chart overlay. It combines day separators, trading sessions, moving averages, liquidity levels, automatic trend lines, a filtered chart-pattern engine and a heads-up display with a composite market bias. Every pattern must pass volatility, volume, market-regime, prior-trend and risk/reward filters before it is drawn, so the chart shows fewer, cleaner signals. Each confirmed pattern is marked with a breakout arrow and a defined stop-loss line.
Indicator type: Trend, price action, support/resistance and volume context (chart overlay)
Preferred instruments: Major and minor FX pairs, gold and major indices
Preferred periods: M15 to H4 for patterns, trend lines, sessions and intraday levels; D1 and W1 for higher-timeframe context
Platform: cTrader Windows and Mac (desktop only)
Trading use cases
- Marking key liquidity levels for entries, targets and stop placement
- Getting a structured read on directional bias before taking a trade
- Seeing where the Asia, London and New York sessions traded
- Spotting confirmed breakouts from wedges, flags, pennants, rectangles and cup & handle patterns
- Tracking active and recently broken trend lines
Liquidity levels
- CDH/CDL and CWH/CWL: the high and low the current day and week have made so far
- PDH/PDL: previous day high/low, tagged (ID) when yesterday was an inside day
- PDC: previous day close, tagged (BO) when yesterday closed beyond the full body of the candle before it
- PWH/PWL and PMH/PML: previous week and month high/low
- FDOMH/FDOML: high/low of the current month’s first trading day
- IBH/IBL (Initial Balance): Monday’s range, then locked at the wider of Monday’s and Tuesday’s ranges for the rest of the week
- LFH/LFL: high/low of the previous week’s last trading day
All levels are read from the broker’s own trading sessions, so a line sits at the same price on every timeframe. On brokers with a short Sunday bar, that bar counts as part of Monday, so Friday remains the “previous day” reference.
Levels that land on the exact same price merge into one line with a combined label. Each level can be toggled and coloured individually. Two master toggles show or hide the daily-and-below group or the weekly-and-above group at once.
Composite bias (HUD)
The HUD shows two biases, each labelled from Strong Bearish to Strong Bullish:
- Daily Bias uses closed sessions only. It is set at the broker’s daily rollover and stays the same all day.
- Current Timeframe Bias uses closed bars on the chart’s timeframe and updates only when a bar closes.
Each bias combines up to eight votes:
- Trend: swing-pivot market structure, plus where price sits against value (an approximate Point of Control and VWAP), combined into one vote
- Momentum: the last close against the prior candle body, plus a short-term price change that must exceed a minimum ATR-relative move
- Volume confirmation: above-average volume with a decisive close
- Relative strength: an optional, ATR-normalized comparison against a benchmark symbol you choose
- Position in range: where price sits within its longer-term high/low range
- Higher-timeframe trend: the direction of the next higher timeframe (weekly for Daily Bias)
- Sweep & reject: a candle that took the previous high or low and closed back inside
- Period open: the last close against the open of its week and month (or of the higher timeframe’s period)
Votes 6–8 and the VWAP check can each be switched off. The thresholds for each label adjust to the number of votes enabled. When today’s move exceeds 100% of the Daily ATR, an “(ATR Exhausted)” tag is added as an entry-timing warning. The tag can appear and disappear during the day; the bias itself does not change.
The HUD also shows:
- spread;
- bar close countdown;
- previous day close breakout status;
- Daily ATR % used;
- previous bar and previous day volume against an average or median baseline.
Trading sessions (off by default)
- Session boxes: Asia, London and New York are shown as shaded boxes around each session’s high and low, on timeframes below Daily.
- Shading: pre-market uses a lighter shade and the main exchange trading hours a darker one.
- Clock changes: session times follow UK and US daylight saving automatically.
- Customizable: session color, label color, session and market hours, and filled or outline boxes.
- Turning it on: use “Enable Sessions” in the Sessions settings.
Chart patterns
- Rising and falling wedges: reversal, continuation or both; stop at the opposite boundary or the pattern extreme
- Bull and bear flags and pennants
- Bullish and bearish rectangles: a standard detector and a separate wide-range (macro) detector, with reversal, continuation or both modes
- Cup & handle
Patterns confirm only on a candle close beyond the boundary, never on an intrabar wick. The quality filters cover:
- ATR-relative minimum size
- Declining volume during formation and a volume spike on breakout (each optional)
- A wider confirmation margin in ranging markets (ADX)
- A required prior trend
- Body containment within the boundaries
- A minimum risk/reward ratio, applied to every pattern except rectangles
- Signal cooldowns
- A cap on how many patterns stay on the chart
Flag and cup & handle size thresholds are percentage-based. For FX intraday charts, lower Min Flagpole Move and Cup Min Depth.
Trend lines
Uptrend and downtrend lines are tracked independently and can both be on the chart at once. Each candidate line must pass minimum span, minimum move and maximum slope checks, and price must respect the line between its two anchors. A close through the line marks it as broken and labels the break. A configurable number of recently broken lines stay visible.
Also included
- Fast and slow moving averages (EMA, SMA or other types)
- Day separators with day-name labels and an optional Sunday-to-Monday merge
Notes
- FX and CFD symbols use tick volume, not exchange volume.
- The Point of Control and VWAP are approximated from bar data, not tick-level trades.
- The benchmark comparison is optional and reads neutral when no symbol is set.
- This indicator does not place trades or predict price. Patterns can fail, so always use proper risk management.
Trading involves risk. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Summary
Key features include:
- Liquidity levels such as current and previous day/week/month highs and lows, initial balance ranges, and session-based levels, all synchronized across timeframes.
- Automatic detection and filtering of chart patterns (wedges, flags, pennants, rectangles, cup & handle) with quality controls including volatility, volume, market regime, prior trend, and risk/reward filters. Confirmed patterns are marked with breakout arrows and stop-loss lines.
- Independent tracking of uptrend and downtrend lines with break detection and labeling.
- Composite market bias HUD showing daily and current timeframe directional bias based on multiple weighted votes including trend, momentum, volume, relative strength, and higher timeframe trends.
- Optional visualization of Asia, London, and New York trading sessions with customizable shading and session times adjusting for daylight saving.
- Additional tools such as fast and slow moving averages and day separators.
Preferred for major and minor FX pairs, gold, and major indices, it supports intraday to weekly timeframes (M15 to W1). The indicator uses broker-specific session data and tick volume for FX/CFD symbols.
